Outside Sales Engineer

Location: Kaneohe, HI

Job Summary:

The Sales Engineer’s primary function is to plan and execute market activities to promote and grow sales within their assigned territory. This role is responsible for achieving overall company sales, margin, and expense goals within the territory.

Customer Service:

  • Spend at least 60% of time outside the office (including home office) on sales activities and developing new customers.
  • Manage Commercial Engineered Equipment sales activities.
  • Build strong customer relationships to support equipment functionality and identify opportunities for additional profit.
  • Identify, research, and contact existing and potential customers.
  • Deliver sales presentations.
  • Maintain established customer relationships to support business growth.
  • Provide sales, marketing, and technical support within the designated territory.
  • Monitor competitor activities and develop plans to stay ahead.
  • Fully utilize the CRM to track and follow up on all projects.
  • Generate proposals/quotations for commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction bid documents is required.

Administrative:

  • Provide all information needed to complete client billing in a timely manner.
  • Document sales calls, maintain expense records, and create timely reports.
  • Submit monthly sales expenses.

Training:

  • Attend scheduled sales meetings to ensure sales information flows effectively and goals/objectives are achieved.
  • Attend manufacturer webinars.
  • Proactively, or as recommended by your manager, attend seminars or courses to continue education (sales, software, current product lines, and systems).

No supervisory responsibilities are required for this role.
Travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years combined inside and outside sales experience in hydronic and/or plumbing equipment sales, distribution or manufacturing, and fabrication.
  • High school graduate required; college preferred. Continued education/seminars in sales, business, and engineering preferred.
  • Established knowledge of HVAC equipment and applications.
  • Proven track record of successfully negotiating commercial construction projects.
  • Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information to customers and company staff, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical skills using general business and math knowledge.
  • General computer experience (MS Windows, Office, etc.).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks according to company goals and objectives.
  • Technical ability to gather customer requirements and propose appropriate products and/or solutions.
  • Strong analytical and observation skills aligned with the vision and expectations set by the Sales Manager.
  • Valid driver’s license required; must maintain a driving record acceptable.
  • Experience with CRM and ERP platforms.
